Applications will be available beginning Sunday, February 16th. Applications to be SUBOG President are due Wednesday, February 26th. All other position applications are due Wednesday, March 5th.

What to Expect:

Serving as a member of the SUBOG board is a volunteer position in which you can gain skills in leadership, marketing, event planning, budgeting, teamwork, and communication. The SUBOG board works together from the time of Selection through the following academic year to provide the student body with a variety of programs that hit different interests the student body may have.  

Being a SUBOG Board Member comes with the expectation that you’ll be in about 7-10 hours of meetings/office hours per week. SUBOG’s typical events schedule throughout the academic year includes 2-3 events per week on average. While you’re not expected to attend every single event, you are encouraged to support your fellow board members as often as possible.  

Commitment of a SUBOG Board Member:

Spring 2025 (upon Selection):

  • Attend Board Retreat  
    • Slated for an overnight during the April 4th-6th weekend 
  • Shadow current board member in your position during major late Spring events 
    • Ex: new Concert Chair shadows for UConnic 
    • Also applicable for all Spring Weekend events 
  • Attend first official Formal meeting 
    • Likely end of April 

Summer 2025:

  • Attend periodic virtual meetings to pass formal business 
  • Attend periodic virtual 1:1 advising meetings 
  • Hold Vice-Chair application processes (if in a Committee Chair Position) 
  • Plan Fall 2025 events 
  • Attend training in August 
    • Requires early move-in  
    • Typically takes place during the week before classes start 

During the 2025-2026 Academic Year:

  • Attend several weekly meetings (approx. 1 hour each) including,  
    • SUBOG Formal 
    • 1:1 Advising 
    • Exec (if in President or VP roles) 
    • Committee Meeting (if in Committee Chair role)  
    • Committee Board Meeting (if in Committee Chair role) 
  • Attend Triad retreats (August & January) and monthly Triad meetings (usual expectation is for each board member to attend 1-2 per semester) 
  • Be present in the office/ attend office hours each week (~2 hours) 
  • Be present at each of the ‘All Hands on Deck’ events including, but not limited to: 
    • Block Party 
    • Homecoming Parade/Carnival 
    • Homecoming Lip Sync 
    • One Ton Sundae 
    • World of Food 
    • UConnic 
    • Food Truck Festival 
  • Attend 1:1s periodically throughout the semester with members of Exec (VP Membership, VP Programming, and President)
